School’s out! What happens next?

11th July, 9am-12.30pm, Channel 4

You are invited to bring your students to Channel 4 for a real-life look at careers, with a link to one of our Channel 4 education projects, The Insiders.

The Insiders is a careers information project using short-form comedy developed from the real life work blogs of individuals across various professions, ranging from a policeman to an aspiring fashion designer. This project will span both web and TV to help 14-19s understand the ins and outs of working life beyond just the more formal job descriptions normally available. For more information on the Insiders visit: http://www.myspace.com/insiderjob

This event is aimed at students who are thinking about their next steps. Students who are at a crossroads - they may not be going down the university route; perhaps they are leaving school and entering the world of work; maybe they don’t know what they want to do next…

We will provide a chance for frank discussion and to look a little deeper than traditional careers advice enables young people to do. We will encourage students to get involved, to really think about who they are and where they’re going, whilst providing them with a taster of the world of work. Afterwards they will have the opportunity to speak to approachable people already in their careers, some light lunch and back to school for the afternoon.

Just to note – the event will not focus on careers in the media, so students with any interests are welcome and as always we encourage a real mix of people.

The website allows 5 students per school plus 1 teacher (the booker). If you do require more tickets please email lwindmill@channel4.co.uk
